About Us
The League of Friends was established in 1968 to help provide health support to the Halstead Area. They have successfully fought off attempts to close the hospital and have helped the Hospital grow into what it is today - a first class facility for the people of the Colne Valley.
The League of Friends has three main aims:
To date the League of Friends has raised approximately £3 million. This has been used: to enhance Clinical services, to purchase equipment for the Hospital, to provide equipment for G.P. Surgeries and Community Services (Including District Nurses, Health Visitors, Midwives and Out Patient Clinics). As an organisation we strive to carry on and continue. As such we have the following plans which we will be campaigning and implementing:

- To Support Best Clinical Practice for the people of Halstead and the surrounding area, both as In and Out Patients.
- To fight against reduced services in the area and any threat to Halstead Hospital.
- To raise funds to support Halstead Hospital and the GP surgeries in the area.

- To maximise the use of the Rehabilitation Unit (The Leonard Ratcliff Centre).
- To facilitate and support the use of the (Minor) Operating Theatre within this unit.
- To provide further equipment to the Hospital, Community Services and Local Surgeries.
- To raise funds and to invite and receive contributions from any person, persons or organisations by way of subscriptions, donations or legacies.

These show the services provided by both the Mid & South Essex Integrated Care System & PROVIDE (the Ward Block and Rehabilitation Unit - The Leonard Ratcliff Centre), and the East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) (the older building fronting Hedingham Road).
